Shield

A powerful melee style using a shield held in the left hand.
Shield access is available to members with an active subscription. Non-members may purchase access in the Marketplace for either 500 Station Cash or 500 Marketplace Cash.

Skill Description
Shield Weapon Proficiency

Allows access to Shield Weapons and the Shield Weapons Tree
Permanently Gain: +5 Restoration

Grants Multiple Abilities:
Sidearm Throw : Hold Range
Block Breaker : Vulnerable to Interrupt
Hurls your Shield to smash through a blocking opponent's defenses, stunning them when Supercharge is at maximum.

Spinning Backhand : Hold Melee
Interrupts : Vulnerable to Block
Interrupts and deflects ranged attacks with a quick, brutal blow with additional damage and knockdown when Supercharge is at maximum.

Overhand Throw

Hold Range x 2
Block Breaker : Vulnerable to Interrupt
Launches your Shield to knockdown enemies and break through their defenses when they are blocking.

Savage Strikes

Permanently Gain: +4 Dominance

Grants Multiple Abilities:
Spinning Upslash : Tap Melee, Hold Melee
Interrupts : Vulnerable to Block
Bashes an enemy into the air with a melee attack.

Leaping Stab : Tap Melee x 2, Hold Melee
Interrupts : Vulnerable to Block
Delivers a quick downward strike to knockdown your target.

Spinning Downward Cross

Tap Melee x 3, Hold Melee
Interrupts : Vulnerable to Block
Delivers a quick downward smash to knock down your opponent.
Permanently Gain: +24 Health

Overhead Plate Smash

Tap Melee x 4, Hold Melee
Interrupts : Vulnerable to Block
Delivers a hefty downward smash to stun your opponents.

Heavy Sidearm Throw

Hold Range x 3
Block Breaker : Vulnerable to Interrupt
Flings your Shield to deal heavy damage to enemies in front of you and break through their defenses when they are blocking.

Shield Uppercut

Tap Melee x 5, Hold Melee
Interrupts : Vulnerable to Block
Bashes an enemy into the air with a melee attack.
Permanently Gain: +8 Vitalization

Devastating Kicks

Grants Multiple Abilities:
Two Footed Slam : Tap Melee x 6, Hold Melee
Interrupts : Vulnerable to Block
Delivers a devastating kick to stun your opponent.

Handspring Kick : Tap Melee x 7, Hold Melee
Interrupts : Vulnerable to Block
Delivers a large kick to knockdown multiple enemies.

Power [x3]
Power Heal Critical Chance

Permanently increase Power by +15 per point spent. On the third point spent Power Heal Critical Chance is permanently increased by 1%.

Critical Attack Damage [x3]

Permanently increase statistics: Boost Critical Attack Damage 4% per point.

Health [x3] Permanently increase statistics: Boost Health by +24 per point.
Critical Healing Magnitude [x3]

Permanently increase statistics: Boost Critical Healing Magnitude by 4% per point.

Power [x6]

Permanently increase statistics: Boost Power by +8 per point.

Might [x6]

Permanently increase statistics: Boost Might by +9 per point.

Vitalization [x6]

Permanently increase statistics: Boost Vitalization by +4 per point.

Dominance [x6]

Permanently increase statistics: Boost Dominance by +3 per point.

Shield Mastery

Requires 20 points in Shield
Requires Spinning Upslash, Leaping Stab, Spinning Downward Cross and Heavy Sidearm Throw
Shield Mastery is a prerequisite for performing cross-weapon combos into select Two Handed and Dual Pistol attacks.
Purchasing Shield Mastery causes Spinning Upslash, Leaping Stab, Spinning Downward Cross and Heavy Sidearm Throw to hit for increased damage.
Permanently increases critical strike damage and resistance to control effects while using Shield.

Home Run

Tap Melee, Hold Melee x 2
Requires Shield Mastery
Requires Two Handed Mastery and Home Run
Use Two Handed to perform a high damage version of Home Run. Using a super power at the moment Home Run impacts will increase the super power's chance to crit by 360% and its critical damage significantly.
Control, Tank and Healer Roles: Using a super power at the moment Home Run impacts will decrease the super power's Power cost.

Big Scoop Mastery

Tap Melee x 3, Hold Melee x 2
Requires Shield Mastery
Requires Two Handed Mastery and Big Scoop
Use Two Handed to perform a high damage version of Big Scoop. Using a super power at the moment Big Scoop impacts will increase the super power's chance to crit by 360% and its critical damage significantly.
Control, Tank and Healer Roles: Using a super power at the moment Big Scoop impacts will decrease the super power's Power cost.

Lifting Strike Mastery

Tap Melee x 2, Hold Melee x 2
Requires Shield Mastery
Requires Dual Pistols Mastery and Lifting Strike
Use Dual Pistols to perform a high damage version of Lifting Strike. Using a super power at the moment Lifting Strike impacts will increase the super power's chance to crit by 360% and its critical damage significantly.
Control, Tank and Healer Roles: Using a super power at the moment Lifting Strike impacts will decrease the super power's Power cost.

Magnum Round Mastery

Hold Range x 4
Requires Shield Mastery
Requires Dual Pistols Mastery and Magnum Round
Use Dual Pistols to perform a high damage version of Magnum Round. Using a super power at the moment Magnum Round impacts will increase the super power's chance to crit by 360% and its critical damage significantly.
Control, Tank and Healer Roles: Using a super power at the moment Magnum Round impacts will decrease the super power's Power cost.

Health/Dominance [x3]

Requires 21 Points in Shield
Permanently increase statistics: Boost Health by +50 per point and Dominance by +7 per point.

Might/Precision [x3]

Requires 21 Points in Shield
Permanently increase statistics: Boost Might by +25 per point and Precision by +25 per point.

Restoration [x3]

Requires 21 Points in Shield
Permanently increase statistics: Boost Restoration by +30 per point.

Power/Vitalization [x3]

Requires 21 Points in Shield
Permanently increase statistics: Boost Power by +25 per point and Vitalization by +8 per point.

  • Center-grip shields under various names are used offensively in martial arts from Turkey, Iran, the Indian sub-continent and the Malay archipelago including the Philippines. Uses include striking, trapping, distraction, unbalancing and levering the opponent's shield out of the way. This is the very purpose of small but heavy shields like the buckler and targe.
  • Prior to March 31st, 2015, Shield access was included in The Last Laugh DLC pack. Previous owners of the DLC will retain Shield access.
